Melissa Oneil

MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil, born July 12, 1988[1], is a Canadian singer/actress from Canada. O'Neil, the first Canadian female winner of Canadian Idol's 3rd season was the winner in 2005. O'Neil is primarily known as an actress because of her performances in the series Syfy as Two / Rebecca/ Portia Lin as well as on ABC as Officer Lucy Chen in the ABC procedural drama series The Rookie. She was voted among the bottom three and two contestants were eliminated. Shocked by this, the judges advised viewers to vote for contestants such as Melissa who had the greatest vocal talent. O'Neil's performances were constantly praised and O'Neil did not slip back into the bottom three. Zack Werner, the judge, called O'Neil "a potential winner it all". O'Neil, along with Rex Goudie, reached the finals on September 7 on the 7th of September in 2005. Werner, a judge famously said that the headlines of the following day's news will be "The King [Kalan Porter] is dead. The Queen will live forever." At the grand finale's results show on the 14th of September, 2005, O'Neil defeated Goudie to be crowned the third Canadian Idol, as well as being the first female winner, and (at 17) the youngest contestant in the show's history.
